It’s not often the whole family gets together so this year my Mum and Stepdad booked a five night stay in this lovely Georgian house for all of us – my two sisters, two stepbrothers and various boyfriends/girlfriends. The house in Anglesey sleeps 14 but there only 11 of us so there were a few spare rooms. Every room was slightly different and they were all luxurious with big comfortable beds and most of them had ensuites.
The house is pretty much on it’s own but we had a few cars with us in case anyone fancied any day trips – we had one to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyndrobwchllantysiliogogogoch (which involved taking pictures of the big long sign and then having a pub lunch) and we visited the Sea Zoo (waste of £7.50!).
However, the majority of the time we kept ourselves entertained in and around the house. We enjoyed a few coastal walks, spotted a seal or two, and had a bag of chips in Cemaes Bay. We also attempted to fly a kite and had a mass game of hide and seek!
It was the perfect little break to spend time with the family and although we all kind of split up and did our own thing during the day, we all came together each night for dinner. We took turns with the cooking and all sat at the long table in the dining room. There was a bar in the corner so we had drinks flowing all night!
It was probably one of the most relaxing holidays I’ve ever had. We weren’t stressing about getting up early to grab a sunbed and make the most of the sun – we could just roll out of bed at any time and spend the day playing games or reading a book or having a wet and windy walk.
The only thing I think would have improved the house a bit was if there was a living space which seated 14 people. There’s one main living room which had 2 sofas and 2 chairs, and another room called the “snug” which was a bit smaller. When we all watched a film together in the living room, we were all squished together at awkward angles and two of us were on the floor. When we wanted to watch The X Factor the next night we decided to split into two different rooms which I thought was a bit unsociable.
Other than that the house was beautiful – nicely decorated with fabulous views of the countryside from every room. If you’re planning a quiet, relaxing break with the family (they also do weddings!) I would definitely recommend Llanlliana House.
